artificialeyes are keeping us updated on the impending release of 3L (current status: Soon), and while I’m still in “getting my studio in order” mode in the lead-up to the “2008 massive VJ geek-out and CDMoFest” and unable to play with new toys, CyberPatrolUnit has posted some great demo videos (and followup), showing us some of the places that 3L may be able to take us.

Exciting? Maybe a little. I still have lots of 3L video to edit from Perth last year, and I’ve promised Michael that I’ll have some videos ready for the official launch. Stay tuned!

  • chaos theory

3L looks great.shame my 2.16 macbookpro wont run it.

  • I'd say your machine would have a pretty good chance.. Apparently the graphics card takes most of the strain. As long as you have 1440pixels wide screen you should be able to at least give it a try, if not with the highest resolution output.

  • cpu's macbookpro is this config: 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 128MB of GDDR3 SDRAM… which is not our "minimum spec" but it seems to be running 3L fine.. its not about the cpu ists about the gpu..and we suggest 256 MB of vram, but he's not having any problem running it with just 128… and jaymis is right, the creen res minimum is 1440 x 900..which your machine definately has… so keep your head up, the public demo version and commercial release are just around the corner..

  • and here's a couple more links to demo's of material created with 3L in realtime: http://thrill.artificialeyes.tv/node/138 (6 full length demos) and http://thrill.artificialeyes.tv/node/118 (11 full length demos). All of these demos were recorded in realtime using the built-in DVR. None of the material is "external" to 3L (in other words no external clips or graphics were used to gnerate the objects and textures and motion that you see in the demos, except other clips that were made in 3L, and then re-used as textures or backgrounds on further compositions. There are also further samples of compositions created in 3L on our two commercial dvd's released with VMS, check the site for sample clips: http://vm000004.host.inode.at/product/DVDAE.html#
