Change your mood with our favorite springtime mixes

In the age of the algorithm and overabundant streams, the mix might be more important than ever. Mixes can give us insights into tastemakers’ and producers’ imagination; they can be intimate and human at a time when so much of our music stream is faceless. But then, with so many mixes out there, who curates the curators? Meet a new feature on CDM, finding mixes across various genres. To kick off the series, CDM’s Zuzana Friday gives us her seasonal picks. The mixtape may have gone digital, but it’s no less relevant. -Ed.

Four Tet Walks Through His Unique Live Rig for Red Bull Music Academy [Video]

Playing with laptops can become performative in conventional ways, just by adding instruments – voice, guitar, live drums, ukelele, or whatever it is you play. It’s time best spent listening, which puts me in a happy, wordless state. (And, I might add, reminds me to work on my chops. See …

Burial and Four Tet Team Up … On Vinyl Only: “The Black Album,” In Real Life

Let me get this straight. Burial and Four Tet are working together on a record. But there’s … No artwork. No promos. An entirely … black cover? And it’s vinyl only? We have been told the artwork will be in a black cover with a black sleeve on …
