Numark NuVJ Demos on VJKungFu with Momo The Monster

I featured VJKungFu last week, taking a prod at Momo for not creating more articles. Well the prod worked: Momo has been demoing the NuVJ at apple stores around the US, and now brings some video tutorials to VJKungFu: NuVJ Crash Course and Crossfader Triggering with the NuVJ. Want Some Imagery With That Sound? Numark AVM02 DJ-VJ Mixer Reviewed on CDMotion

When purchasing an audio mixer, DJs are quite literally spoilt for choice. Visualists are a little constrained though, with only a handful of companies making a couple of vision mixer models each. This situation is improving rapidly though, with companies such as Vixid getting in on the act with their upcoming VJX16-4, and DJ company Numark with their AVM01 and recently updated AVM02. I purchased an AVM02 when it was released in Feb, and have been testing it out in preparation for 2 months touring Australia with a rock star. While I’m very excited about my AVM02, there seems to …

Numark's NuVJ First Impressions on VJForums

AV3 has posted some impressions of the Numark NuVJ on VJForums, here and here. On getting it out of the box I have to say it looks really nice, quite light, but it is a midi controller and not hardware, so that was to be expected. Actually it sits well on the desk, and the most energetic mixing doesnt budge it! … The first thing I wanted to try was the scratching. The scratch decks have a really nice feel, and they continue to spin for a long time after release, really well balanced. they are a soft rubber, so …

New Visualist Gear at Namm: Numark VM03-MKII

Was 2006 the year that manufacturers really started paying attention to visualists? Sure, the DVJ-X1 has been out for 3 years now, but prices of video mixers and custom video hardware like the DVJ mean it’s not really a tool for aspiring VJs to dip their toes into the form. So purpose-built VJ hardware has been the exclusive domain of established, touring VJs (or DJs adding video to their performance). The VJ-in-training-and-on-a-budget has traditionally been confined to either off the shelf DVD players and a cheap video switcher, or shoehorning midi control into a laptop based, software solution, and praying …

Numark’s NuVJ as a DJ/Music Controller; No Nudge on iDJ2 iPod DJ Mixer (But Some Won’t Care)

Numark’s new VJ product looks like it could be the missing link DJ controller hardware a lot of us wanted. The Behringer BCD2000 is inexpensive, but availability has been scarce and it doesn’t yet support the Mac, on top of some MIDI implementation oddities. (See shipping and driver complaints, full review on PC.) The US$300 NuVJ, in contrast, looks like it might have just the combination of controller features and build that people want, with complete Mac and Windows support. More on that in a moment. In the meantime, our friend Steve Cooley writes on somesoundswelike about the disappointing lack …

Numark's NuVJ, US$300 DJ-Style MIDI Controller + VJ Software

(Update: I bought one of these controllers soon after they became available in Australia, and found that it had some compatibility issues with various VJ software. Definitely try before you buy. Jaymis.) Numark launched their NuVJ VJ product, a combination of a DJ-style MIDI controller with software from Arkaos, back at Musikmesse in April. The hardware is now nearing release, and it’s priced at only US$300. The gear is aimed at DJs, but it may appeal to anyone who wants a hardware controller well-suited to live electronic music and VJing. With driver support for both Mac and Windows and full …
