Pam’s back in town, and she’s learned a new language. ALM/Busy Circuits’ “Pamela’s Disco” sports an Ethernet jack for PRO DJ-LINK — that’s the sync format found on CDJs and other Pioneer DJ/AlphaTheta equipment and compatible gear. You read that right: now your modular has a sync button.
Now, of course, you don’t actually need this module; people were already performing hybrid modular sets that combined tracks on CDJs with Eurorack modular. (Florian Meidl is one example, a friend and collaborator!) But keeping focused on your live performance and syncing up something as complex as a modular patch was a chore. (Dialing in a BPM and mashing “play” on my TR-8S is another matter!) And this also opens up some more precise tempo lock, including still more output (to DIN Sync in addition to 24ppq analog clock).
You do still get hand-on control, thanks to that Resync button. And it’s just cool that they did this and made it work.
