of its piano samples for use in Apple's GarageBand and Logic (Express
and Pro) — a major upgrade from the instrument that comes in the box.
That's PMI's Bosendorfer 290, Yamaha C7, Steinway D and the EMPEROR
(Bos290 SE) and the OLD LADY (model 1923 Steinway D).
It takes a lot to get me excited about piano samples as a pianist — I
like the real thing — but check the A/B comparisons of the sample
library to the original sampled instrument. These guys have done a
very, very good job. And this is much cheaper than PMI's offerings for
other samplers. Thanks to the fact that Apple's whole product line uses
the same sampler, Apple-format samples are likely to grow in popularity.
