This is not granular. This is all sampler, unison. And so it sounds like things that even granular can’t do. Vara Osiria Belich is this week’s sound design inspiration, with her bonus gestural spell casting with gen-1 Leap Motion. (Remember?)

All. About This.

To quote one of the comments: “holy shrimp.” Gorgeous.

Oh yeah, and this makes me want to go back to something like Unreal Engine, where I kinda sorta had granular not-really things working in the native MetaSounds nodes. Or maybe rethink some stuff I was making in Max and Pd. It’s great what happens when you don’t have a handy granular node handy.

Btu — let me say this, as I really feel genuinely guilty about not saying it enough — Kilohearts have done beautiful work with Phase Plant, and rightfully won the underground internet through videos like Vara’s showing off a ton of sheer personal chops!

You can check out her sample packs here, too — not that you’ll be able to use a sample pack after watching this video without openly weeping.

But is this all just some wonky sound demo; like, can this fit into some sort of, for lack a better word, music?

Welp, glad you asked, because — praise prawn! (full set on SoundCloud)

For more of this decapod-ish decadence (sorry, I’m stuck on that now and you can’t make me stop; I’ve gone Dendrobranchiata mad), do your digital digging here:

Hey, Thursday is my class day so I’m fried and want to turn over to someone else making the sounds! Epic!

PS, Kilohearts stuff is on Plugin Boutique in case you’re being your own Santa Claus and stocking up on Black Friday deals. (Black Friday has me so confused, especially being in Europe, that I’ve had a hard time keeping track of when Thanksgiving is, but good luck!)
