Strap in, because this is an announcement that’s very specific. Dipole v2 is a through-zero flanger that sounds… well kind of like a jet flying by. And it runs on KORG hardware. But what makes this cool? v2 has updated this particular sonic spice to some next-level processing abilities. And it’s in stereo.
There are flangers, and then there are flangers. This is the uncut stuff we’re talking here. Check this high-quality demo on an SP-404 mkII:
On the technical side, Dipole’s trick is combining two delay lines with switchable feedback signal routing. As you get near zero, that gives you the characteristic “buzzed by a jet” sound – which I presume is not coincidental, as the jet effect recreates something similar in the physical world. (Thanks, Doppler effect!)
The effect historically originates on a pair of tape machines; here, you get digital accuracy with a sine wave LFO.
But for people who love applying this effect, which is definitely not everyone, you get some significant tweaks in this version. Quoting brains-of-Sinevibe Artemiy:
Both positive and negative feedback configurations are now supplied in a single plugin
with a bipolar feedback control and smooth, real-time routing switching.Added support for stereo signal processing.
Increased maximum feedback amount with added auto-suppression to avoid overloads.
Improved level balance in comparison to dry input signal.
All the remaining was also true of v1, but to reiterate:

Being able to crank feedback and fully control routing and balance means you can push this one to the edge – and stereo is really how you want to have this effect. I’m most interested to do weird stuff with percussion and techno myself – and the KORG devices here work well for that.
