If the tablet has a strength, it’s in re-imagining software as something truly immersive – no knobs, no switches, just a futuristic wash of visuals and sound, like touching noise with your fingertip. Borderlands (soon to have a slightly different name) hints at that promise. We took a look inside the idea behind the app and the thought process that led to its design in April:

But now the video teaser above is probably enough to really whet your appetite. And there’s good reason to be excited. There’s a step-by-step tutorial coming launch day. I’ve seen it, and I think you’ll like it a lot. And some intrepid readers have already built the free and open source on Mac – and they’re in love.
So, when is Borderlands coming to you? Well, it’s awaiting Apple approval – yes, it seems naming your music app with the same moniker as a hit video game isn’t the greatest idea. But developer Christopher Carlson tells CDM he’s working on an altered submission and will get this all sorted. Stay tuned here for that tutorial and news once it hits. In the meantime, sweet granular dreams.
