Even I can’t keep up with Black Friday. AIR Music Tech is making their new Multiband Filter free for its intro only – you have through tonight, December 2, midnight Eastern to grab yours.
Note on redeeming: sign up via email below, then you’ll be emailed a code. Use that code on checkout – the code also expires at midnight tonight US East Coast time – and you get 100% off. Then check out and you get a download or it’s added to your existing account. You’ll then need to download the inMusic Software Center – yeah, another one of those – but that also unlocks access to free copies of MPC Beats and BFD Player and Core Library.
This one’s pretty simple, but has some handy features for everyday use, and it’s silky-smooth soundwise:
- 3 band filter banks with crossover
- Cutoff, resonance, envelope modulation per band
- Built-in, assignable envelope follower with rise, fall, and gain
- Multimode: each band includes low pass, band pass, high pass, notch, peak
- Pre-filter drive
- Solo per band
- Spectrum view
That covers a lot of use cases, though I wish it had a few more adventurous creative features – I love Native Instruments’ Driver for its distortion and amplitude modulation, even though it has fewer options. (Techno producer Florian Meindl is a heavy user of this one, as I’ve noticed while we’re working together!) Like a lot of NI’s stuff, it’s a shame that it appears not to be getting updates, meaning AIR, you have an opening here. But yeah, for sure I’d request a modulation input to the filter in a future update, even that’s admittedly a bit more exotic/niche.
Bonus, because this comes from AIR — one license runs across MPC hardware as well as on Mac and Windows.
Here you go, have a walkthrough – including the useful preset management:
Recommended. I just grabbed mine and gave it a go.
