It’s the 12 Days of Soundtoys: the Burlington-based developer is giving away one of its excellent audio effects every day, free. That’s on top of their existing sale. The freebies kick off today with Little PrimalTap, a retro delay with extra time warping, looping, distortion, and sound-transforming powers.
Each free plug-in is available starting today, daily from midnight (12am/00:00) to 23:59 UTC/GMT-5 NYC time. You don’t have to buy anything, and you can keep the plug-in forever. You claim the plug-in each day and Soundtoys emails an activation code to use

Little PrimalTap, day one freebie of this fest, is a Soundtoys classic — so let’s head back 11 years to this video to get a sense of what it can do:
Little PrimalTap is inspired by and reimagines the Lexicon Prime Time Model 93, beloved in the 80s — if you’re curious, you can go back and read the original owners’ model from Lexicon. (I can say Lexicon; they can’t — this is an unofficial rendition of the source material.) As this is a Soundtoys concoction, expect some twists and turns from the DSP boffins (like doubling the delay time). And, of course, they hope you upgrade to the very-cool full version with dual delay lines, an LFO, and multiple algorithms. But sometimes I like going back to Soundtoys’ “Little” variants, even with their bigger siblings installed, just for focus.
And you can’t even get this on its own normally outside the bundle, so the freebie is a welcome one!

The site the manual comes from is a beautiful, beautiful rabbit hole: https://therackofages.com/
All Soundtoys’ stuff is on sale now through the end of December, with 50% off upgrades, bundles, and effects.
Soundtoys shop and Holiday Sale
By the way, if you’re thinking, wait, isn’t the “twelve days” thing about Christmas and French hens or something? Ah, but this 12-day span — which runs from today, December 8, through December 19 — falls on auspicious holidays.
Today, I’m sure you know it’s Pretend To Be A Time Traveler Day, which also fits nicely with a time-warping delay like this.
December 19 falls on a holy confluence of high holidays that truly represent the reasons for the season: National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, National Oatmeal Muffin Day, and National Hard Candy Day.
Amen. I could say more, but I would alter my past — your future! Ah… to be you, right now. Not knowing what’s coming. Enjoy the ride.
